The Rev. LeSean Tarkington is a graduate of the Historic Wilberforce University of Wilberforce, OH., with a degree in political science, and the Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta, Ga., with a Master of Divinity degree. A community leader with a proven track record, Rev. Tarkington civically involved through several organizations: Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., 100 Black Men of America Inc and as the former Democratic Committeeman for Sedgwick County Kansas. Denominationally, he serves as the Connectional Vice President of the Richard Allen Young Adult Council of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Having been featured in Ebony Magazine as one of the nation’s top young adult leaders under the age of 30. He has appeared on various television shows such as Sister-Sister, Saved by the Bell and “Step by Step” with the late Whitney Houston. Most recently Tarkington worked with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube in the upcoming biopic “Straight Out of Compton” which tells the story of Rap Artist NWA. Additionally, Rev. Tarkington serves as mentor and industry chaplain for recording artist and professional athletes.
A leader in all fields he has served as a member of Board of Trustees for both Wilberforce University at the Interdenominational Theological Seminary. During Such time at ITC he worked as the legislative assistant to Former Lt. Governor Mark Taylor, as the director of Faith Based activities, for which he was recognized as one of Ebony Magazine’s Young Leaders under 30. He has been afforded the opportunity to share the stage with Former President William Jefferson Clinton and Tavis Smiley just to name a few.
As pastor of St. Peter AME Church in St. Louis, MO, he is an agent of the community through the mission and ministry work of his congregation. A member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association Inc., and Chapter Representative for the Gospel Music Workshop of America, solidifies him as multitasker of various platforms of leadership. As a bridge builder he is seen actively demonstrating the tenants of his faith, and work as a minister while creating pathways through development. An organizer, a critical thinker, and a mentor, Rev. LeSean Tarkington brings a wealth of experience to the conversation of leadership, service, and ministry.
The Reverend Johnetta N. M. Toodle-Tarkington is the daughter of the distinguished Dr. Cynthia M. Toodle and the late James Toodle. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she is a product of Grant Chapel AME Church of Birmingham and was educated at Ramsay High School where she was featured in Ebony Magazine as one of the Nation’s Top High School Seniors. She furthered her education at the historic Clark Atlanta University earning a degree in Biology and graduated from the Turner Theological Seminary, the AME constituent of the Interdenominational Theological Center, where she was inducted into the National Society of Theta Phi.
Toodle-Tarkington was ordained an Itinerant Elder and began her pastorate in the Ninth Episcopal District before relocating with her husband to San Francisco, California. Rev. Toodle-Tarkington has served as Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator for AME Women in Ministry for the Southern California and Midwest Conferences of the Fifth Episcopal District. An accomplished musician and choral director, she has performed with the 105 Voices of History National HBCU Choir, the Lawrence Weaver Chorale, the legendary Glynn E. Halsey and the CAU Philharmonic Society, and A.R.I.S.E.—African Americans Renewing Interest in Spirituals Ensemble.
Professionally, she has served as a Pediatric Chaplain, General Hospital Chaplain, a Hospice Chaplain, and most recently, as a Corporate Chaplain for Tyson Foods, Inc. in Hutchinson, Kansas. Toodle-Tarkington believes in excellence in everything she pursues she believes in making every effort to realize the gifts of God within herself and others as well as assisting other people to accomplish the same in the communities she serves. Civically and communally she is a proud member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Rev. Johnetta is married to the Rev. LeSean Tarkington, Pastor of Saint Peter AME Church of Saint Louis, Missouri and the International Vice-President of the Richard Allen Young Adult Council of the AME Church.
